Peekaboo allows event organisers, photographers, or authorised parties to upload photographs taken at events.

Photographs may therefore constitute personal data where individuals can be identified from them.
1.5 Selfies and User-Submitted Images
To use Peekaboo's photo-matching functionality, you may provide a photograph or selfie.
The submitted image may be processed to determine whether your face corresponds to a face appearing in photographs associated with the relevant event.
1.6 Facial Recognition and Facial Matching Information
Peekaboo may use automated facial-analysis and facial-matching technologies to identify potential matches between a submitted selfie and faces appearing in event photographs.
Depending on the technical implementation of the Service, this processing may involve:
- Detection of a face within an image;
- Facial feature analysis;
- Generation of a mathematical or algorithmic representation of facial characteristics;
- Comparison of facial representations;
- Similarity or confidence scoring;
- Matching or ranking of photographs based on facial similarity; and
- Identification of photographs in which a matching or potentially matching face appears.
Such facial representations, matching information, or biometric-related information will be processed only to the extent reasonably necessary to provide the requested photo-matching functionality.
Peekaboo does not intend to use facial information for unrelated purposes.

3. Facial Recognition and Biometric Privacy
Facial recognition is a central functionality of Peekaboo and therefore receives additional protection within our data-handling practices.
3.1 Purpose Limitation
Facial information submitted or generated through Peekaboo is processed primarily for the purpose of finding photographs associated with the relevant event in which the user may appear.
We do not intend to use facial information for:
- Advertising unrelated to Peekaboo;
- Selling facial profiles;
- Creating unrelated identity databases;
- Tracking users across unrelated events;
- Facial surveillance;
- Training unrelated facial-recognition systems; or
- Other unrelated commercial purposes.
3.2 Matching Rather Than Identification
Peekaboo is designed primarily to help users locate photographs in which they appear within an event-specific collection.
A match generated by Peekaboo should not automatically be interpreted as a legally verified identification of a person.
Facial matching is probabilistic and may produce false positives or false negatives.
3.3 No Guarantee of Accuracy
Peekaboo does not guarantee that:
- Every photograph containing the user will be identified;
- Every displayed photograph actually contains the user;
- Every facial match will be accurate;
- Faces will always be detectable;
- Poor lighting, image quality, pose, obstruction, age, expression, or other conditions will not affect matching.
Users should independently review photographs before relying on a match.
3.4 No General Facial Surveillance
Peekaboo is not intended to provide continuous surveillance or general-purpose tracking of individuals.
Facial matching is performed in connection with the specific event-photo discovery functionality requested through the Service.
4. Event Organiser and Photographer Responsibilities
Event organisers and authorised photographers may upload photographs to Peekaboo.
Where an organiser or photographer uploads photographs containing individuals, the organiser or photographer is responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate authority, permissions, notices, consents, or other lawful basis necessary for collecting and providing those photographs to Peekaboo, where required by applicable law.
Event organisers are responsible for:
- Using Peekaboo only for lawful events and purposes;
- Providing appropriate notices to attendees where required;
- Obtaining required permissions or consents;
- Providing accurate event information;
- Not knowingly uploading unlawful or improperly obtained photographs;
- Respecting applicable privacy, publicity, copyright, and other rights; and
- Responding appropriately to requests concerning photographs under their control.
Peekaboo may provide tools or notices to assist event organisers but does not assume responsibility for the organiser's independent legal obligations.
5. User Consent and Choice
Where required by applicable law, Peekaboo may request consent before processing a user's submitted selfie or facial information for photo matching.
The user may choose not to provide a selfie or use facial-matching functionality.
If a user does not provide the information required for matching, certain Peekaboo functionality may not be available.
Where consent is the applicable legal basis for processing, users may withdraw consent subject to applicable law and technical or legal limitations.
Withdrawal of consent may affect the availability of facial-matching functionality.
6. Ownership of Photographs
Uploading photographs to Peekaboo does not automatically transfer ownership of those photographs to Peekaboo or Syntalix LLP.
The ownership and intellectual-property rights in photographs remain with their respective owners, photographers, event organisers, or other rights holders, as applicable.
Users receive access to photographs through Peekaboo subject to the permissions and rights applicable to the relevant event and photograph.
7. Use of Photographs
Peekaboo processes event photographs primarily to:
- Store and organise event photographs;
- Analyse photographs for faces;
- Perform requested facial matching;
- Identify potentially relevant photographs;
- Display matching or potentially matching photographs to authorised users;
- Operate event galleries; and
- Maintain the security and functionality of the Service.
Peekaboo does not sell event photographs as a standalone data product.
Peekaboo does not intentionally use event photographs for unrelated advertising or promotional purposes without appropriate permission.
8. AI and Facial-Recognition Model Training
Peekaboo does not use users' submitted selfies, facial representations, or event photographs to train, fine-tune, or improve unrelated AI or facial-recognition models unless this is separately disclosed and appropriately authorised.
Where Peekaboo uses third-party artificial intelligence, machine-learning, cloud, or facial-analysis technologies, such providers may process information on behalf of Peekaboo only to the extent reasonably necessary to provide the relevant functionality and subject to applicable contractual and legal safeguards.
9. Temporary Processing and Storage
Peekaboo may temporarily transmit, process, cache, or store:
- Submitted selfies;
- Event photographs;
- Facial representations;
- Matching results;
- Technical information; and
- Related metadata.
Such processing may be necessary to:
- Perform facial matching;
- Generate search results;
- Display photographs;
- Maintain event galleries;
- Maintain system reliability;
- Prevent abuse;
- Protect the Service; or
- Complete requested functionality.
We do not intend to retain facial-matching information indefinitely.
Where information is no longer reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected or processed, it may be deleted or otherwise removed from active systems, subject to applicable legal, security, backup, and operational requirements.
10. Facial Data Retention
Peekaboo aims to minimise the retention of facial information.
Depending on the implementation and event configuration:
- A submitted selfie may be retained only for the period necessary to perform matching;
- Facial representations generated from a selfie may be deleted after matching is completed or after a defined operational period;
- Matching results may be retained only as necessary to provide the relevant functionality;
- Event photographs may remain available for the period agreed with the relevant event organiser;
- Technical logs may be retained for security, troubleshooting, legal, and operational purposes.
Specific retention periods may vary depending on the event, technical architecture, contractual requirements, and applicable law.
11. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information or facial information.
We may share information with authorised service providers where reasonably necessary to operate Peekaboo.

- Image-processing providers;
- Facial-analysis or computer-vision infrastructure providers;
- Authentication providers;

Where children may appear in event photographs, the relevant event organiser or other responsible party must ensure that the collection and processing of such photographs is carried out in accordance with applicable law.
We do not knowingly seek to create independent facial profiles of children for unrelated purposes.

Peekaboo may use cookies, local storage, session technologies, and similar technologies to:
- Keep users signed in;

- Your Peekaboo account;
- Personal information associated with your account;
- Submitted selfies;
- Facial representations, where applicable;
- Matching information, where applicable; and
- Other personal information that we are legally permitted to delete.
Certain information may need to be retained where required or permitted by law, for security purposes, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or enforcement of legal rights.
21. Third-Party Links and Services
Peekaboo may contain links or integrations to third-party websites and services.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices, security, availability, or content of third-party services beyond the extent required by applicable law.
Your interactions with third-party services may be governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
22. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically due to:
- Changes to Peekaboo;
- Changes in technology;
- Changes in data-processing practices;
- Changes in applicable law;
- Changes in security requirements; or
